Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Eco Solar Clean's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. We understand that maintaining your solar panels can raise several questions. Below, we've compiled answers to common inquiries to help you understand our process and the importance of regular cleaning.

1. Why should I have my solar panels cleaned?

Over time, dust, bird droppings, pollen, and other debris can accumulate on your solar panels, reducing their efficiency by up to 20-30%. Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and maximises the return on your investment.

2. How often should solar panels be cleaned?

We recommend annual cleaning for most installations. However, in areas with higher levels of dust, pollution, or sea salt deposits, a biannual cleaning schedule may be more appropriate to maintain peak efficiency.

3. How is the cleaning process performed?

At Eco Solar Clean, we use a water deionising filtration system that provides pure, demineralised water, ensuring a spot-free clean without the use of chemicals. This method is environmentally friendly and aligns with manufacturers' recommendations to avoid tap water, which contains minerals that can damage panels over time.

4. How long does the cleaning process take?

The duration of the cleaning process depends on factors such as the number of panels and the level of soiling. Typically, a residential cleaning can be completed within 1 to 2 hours.

5. Do I need to be home during the cleaning service?

No, you don't need to be present as long as we have safe access to your property and the solar panels. We can coordinate any necessary details beforehand to ensure a smooth service.

6. Is it safe to clean the panels myself?

While it's possible to clean your own solar panels, it's not recommended. Using improper cleaning agents or techniques can damage the panels and may void warranties. Additionally, accessing rooftop panels can pose safety risks. Professional cleaning ensures safety and maintains the integrity of your system.

7. How do I know if my panels need cleaning?

A noticeable drop in energy production can indicate that your panels are dirty. Regular visual inspections can also help identify visible dirt or debris. Scheduling routine cleanings can prevent efficiency losses before they become significant.

8. What areas do you service?

Based in Dunedin, we service a large part of the South Island, from Ashburton to Invercargill, ensuring your solar panels operate at peak efficiency.

9. How can I request a free quote?
